Analysing Opening Sequences - Introduction

I am going to begin by looking at five opening sequences from different genres to see if there are similarities in the conventions found in opening scenes regardless of genre.

The five openings sequences I am going to look at are:

'50 First Dates' (romantic comedy)

'Interstellar' (science fiction)

'Goosebumps' (comedy horror)

'Top Gun: Maverick' (action/adventure)

'Once Upon a Time in the West' (western)
